The Basilicata region

Matera
Matera, the city of stones, a unique place, UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with the many rock-hewn churches. While walking through the narrow streets of Civita, the oldest part of the city, one can see the old urban settlement covered by a network of caves carved into the rock by the shepherds to protect families and animals. Archaic architecture, without a specific project, which is a real monumental work, attracting millions of visitors from all over the world. A place so unique that it has been chosen as the setting for many films, including “The Passion of the Christ”.
Matarea
Then there is the coast of Maratea, a 32 km long coastline in the Tyrrhenian Sea, famous for the richness and beauty of the seabeds, this beautiful land offers numerous small beaches to relax in the sun and to cool off in the clear waters of an unspoilt sea In addition, you can take a boat tour to visit the many caves that are along the coast. The city of Maratea is a precious pearl in the picturesque Gulf of Policastro, dominated by the imposing statue of the Savior.
